The Tiger treasures continue to surprise us as we find out that the new iChat has a built in feature that can set the current iTunes track as your available message. Although, this feature has been available through third party applications before Tiger, Apple took it a step further by adding a Link Button next to it. Just like the one in iTunes, it takes you to the iTunes Music Store directly to the artist’s album page ready for you to “Buy”. This is a great feature that will allow people to preview what their friends are listening too and even purchasing it on the spot. Great iLfe integration, kudos for Apple. It would be great if a future version can include the icon of the album as my buddy icon as well. ;-)

Cute! I like this new feature, however, I think that Apple is starting to be a bit too in your face with their marketing. I like my computer being my computer, not a constantly-changing billboard for Apple’s products and services.

But it’s a cool feature in any case.

What is needed in iChat is iMovie, Final Cut import capabilities so your buddies can say preview a iMovie project your working on.

Why on God’s Green Earth would we want to torture our buddies with (not only home movies but) half-baked home movies?

I could get behind the idea if it involved, say, photos. First, the files are much smaller. Second, more people have digital cameras than camcorders (and less have the time/energy to make home movies). Third, it’s a moment in time and much easier to do well than filmmaking.

    Seriously…

I tried Adium, and it’s great and easy, but you are right, no video or audio.

I saw on the web site, that it will be replacing iChat in the future (with audio/video), or is that a april fools joke

that would be great, it’s a great app
