It’s a Special Day
Posted on Saturday, July 16th, 2005 at 9:17 am under Personal.Today is my Birthday. I turn 33. The year Jesus started his three year revolution. It’s safe to say I won’t be changing the world as much as He did (the calendar system is based on him) but I’ll try my best.
Today we’ll do the same thing we always do, try to take over the world!
- Brain, Pinky & The Brain

Since we where unable to find an available local camping site, we set up tent in our own backyard. Turned the BBQ grill into a fire pit and busted out the marsh mellows. Ahhhh, nothing like a camp site with wireless internet!
Check out my Amazon Whishlist if you MUST share the love.

Happy Birthday to you…
… And to Me. (07-16-1974)
Weird. I just got done reading the post here
His birthday is tomorrow, and thought for a while the iCal icon was dynamically representative of the birthdate you enter upon Apple computer registration. I always noticed it was one off of my day.

You know, I’ve been reading your site for a while now, maybe approaching a year. It’s in my Daily Readers tab, and one of the sites I load every morning to start my day and see what’s up out there.
Until you mentioned Jesus.
Look, I’m completely about freedom of worship, and everybody’s free to believe what is meaningful to them - Buddhist? Rock on. You wanna be a Wiccan, hey, cool for you - but on a site that deals with technical stuff (ie, it falls into my mental “work” bucket instead of my mental “personal” bucket), talking about religion is just not cool.
Seriously, I’m going to have to re-evaluate if your site is going to still be in my daily reader list; it’s not like you’re banging a drum or proselytizing, but it’s just really jarring to hear religion when I’m thinking work, and I don’t want to have that jarring experience.
Seriously, the vacation pics were fine - off topic, I thought, but fine. But keep your thoughts about religion, abortion, politics, and alien abductions out of the work area.
One reader’s opinion.

Melvin - you’re absolutely right, it is a personal blog, and my apologies. I came to your blog originally via a link from a technical site (don’t recall which - maybe Engadget?) about one of your technical articles, and it never occurred to me this whole time that it was a personal blog with some technical stuff vs a technical (professional) blog with some personal stuff.
For myself, on rereading, I can see why some like Jeff thought I sounded more upset than I was - I wasn’t. It’s just my opinion that the two don’t mix, that’s all. But it is a personal blog, so my thoughts about appropriateness are perhaps just as inappropriate, themselves.
Happy birthday.
