In Loving Memory of…

Posted on Saturday, August 13th, 2005 at 3:50 pm under Personal.

The reason for my slow updates over the past two weeks has been that both my grandmas have passed away. First my beloved Tata who died in my arms two weeks ago and then my Abuela Primi who passed away on Monday after battling Alzheimers and Diabetes. Today I got the news my grandfather passed at the hospital just a few hours ago. So to them I say my last “Adios” and “Bendición”. I have lost a whole generation of my family in just three weeks.

Tata

Sylvia Velazquez ( Tata ) 1923-2005

Primi

Primitiva Cruz ( Primi ) 1917-2005

Well, I just visited my grandmother after years, and she’s not doing well — at least, she’s not as I remember her. I guess that’d put “in the mood” for leaving this comment: I wish you and yours all the best in dealing with this great loss.

All of my grandparents had passed away by the time I was 8 years old so I only have fleeting memories of them. I have a wooden train that my maternal grandfather built for my 2nd birthday and 30 years later it’s still one of my most prized possessions.

I’m sorry for your loss and wish you and your family the strength to get through what must be a difficult time.

Sorry to hear that mate, I have also lost all of my Grandparents at the age of 22, unfortunately I never knew those on my farther side.

Oh my lord, my condolences to you for having to deal with 3 deaths in that little amount of time.

My wife’s grandma recently had a stroke so we’ve all been dealing with the reality of impending death and I know just that has been hard.

I am very sorry Melvin. It can’t be easy to bear a burden that most of us struggle with when they come in ‘ones’ and you are dealing with it 3 times over. I imagine the memories of good times must be rushing through your mind at a furious rate as you remember your grandparents.

Thoughts and prayers are with you.

WOw….so much loss. I hope you are OK. It must have been hard with them being so far away, too… I’ll pray for you and especially your parents.

Hi Melvin. I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Death is something so hard to deal with because it hits you so hard and it’s so hard to accept. Always remember the good times, for your loved ones will always live in your heart.

I moved from the USA to Australia about 2 years ago and during that time my Grandpa had a second stroke. The second stroke left him wheelchair bound and it gave my whole family a horrible scare. He is still alive, however the hard part is being so far away from him.

I lost my Grandmother long ago and still miss her greatly. However I remember the happiness and love she brought to my life and so she lives on. So you have my empathy during these trying times.
