For those of you wondering how I got the heart in the post title “I ♥ Prints“, I have created my own cheat sheet of special characters for this purpose. WordPress supports special characters, but it falls victim of it’s own attempt to fix and correct things. It is possible write special characters in all fields in html mode (like when using safari). However, once a post is created, WordPress’ edit mode converts the special characters back. Since my chart includes some characters that might be interpreted as html code, I had to keep my chart on a text file so that I can copy/paste into my browser whenever I have to edit this post. Not an easy thing to do when yo edit a lot, but worth it in some instances where a heart says it all.
Instructions
Find the symbol you want, in this case “♥“, and copy the HTML code for that symbol. For hearts it is “♥“. Then paste “♥” into your title, excerpt or post field. If you use a visual html tool like the FireFox or ecto, you need to go to html mode, paste the code and switch back to rich text.

When this post was first made I commented with some links to two other special charater references, but I just wanted to say that your particular reference has become my reference of choice. This is mostly due to the fact that I can quickly scan through the list of gigantic characters and find the one I am looking for rather quickly.

The only way to put a ☆ on your myspace page is to copy the image directly and then paste it.

i tried copying and pasting the symbols directly..ALL OF THEM GIVEN in the comments above, and all of them work just fine on mine.I copied them straight from here into my myspace name, but if you try putting them in wordpad or sumthing, it wont work. Not for me anyway, so Im guessing alot of idiots are trying to save them for later in case they wanna change them or sumthing. Just save this page into ur favs if thats whats up!

For some reason it either keeps coming up with a question mark or a white box, i’m guessin it might be to do with the character coding as the symbols (i assume are supposed to be stars posted by the helpful people above) appear as ? or []

i know where to find these codes…go the the start button at the bottom left hand corner of your computer and then click run. Type in charmap and a charactermap shows up with all of these symbols and more.
