On my subway ride home I noticed one bodyguard. Then two. Then three. I mind my own business continuing to read my AS3 book and eventually get ready my phone to take a picture just in case. I look up and there he was– mayor Bloomberg taking the subway just like the rest of us. I had heard he has always been an avid subway rider but you sometimes hear things and never know how much of it is true. It was a very New York experience– seing him doing the same thing I was doing, just minding his own business reading his newspaper.

how impressive that he truly acts like a new yorker!
In Toronto, our mayor often rides the subway as well. I used to live in his neighborhood so I’d see him with his family or on his own, and sometimes passengers would stop and chat. Never a bodyguard in sight though. It just never seemed necessary.

DUDE THAT ROCKS…OK, done sounding like an 80’s hair band…but seriously I have seen my fair share of notable figures in my time and I tend to get the most excited about people like Mayor Bloomberg. When I tended bar for the democratic national convention in LA and Mayor Daley (Chicago) came up for a G&T I flipped out on the poor guy…but he eventually gave me a $5 tip so I guess I wasn’t too much for him.
